The Bell Inn served as inspiration for J.R.R. Tolkien's 'Prancing Pony' inn from The Lord of the Rings, with a plaque at the front door marking the link. A large map of Middle Earth hangs on the wall inside the pub, and the corner where Tolkien and his brother sat is preserved with a curved seat and round table. The 200-year-old coaching inn sits in the center of Moreton-in-Marsh, a Cotswold market town with a Tuesday open-air street market starting at 9am right outside the door.
